Whose sauce is boss? Whose meat can’t be beat? You’ll get to help decide as we kick off The Alabama BBQ Bracket.
Starting Monday, March 11, The Year of Alabama Food will host the ultimate showdown of barbecue mastery. The Alabama BBQ Bracket pits 32 of the state’s best barbecue eateries against each other in a month-long battle for smoked-meat supremacy.
You can vote on our Facebook page, and be sure to check here often for bracket updates.
So how did we come up with the bracket? Actually, our fans did.
A few months back, we asked The Year of Alabama Food’s fans and followers to tell us their favorite barbecue restaurants across the state. The response was enormous, with our final list including more than 180 Alabama eateries.
We ranked the top eight most-nominated restaurants in each region — North, South, Central and Gulf Coast — and formed them into The Alabama BBQ Bracket.
Now the process is back in your hands.
Throughout the coming weeks, we’ll be posting two matchups a day on our Facebook page. Each matchup will be open for voting for 72 hours, after which we’ll tally the votes and declare a winner. Each winner will advance to the next round.
